New brush tip marker

Yesterday I decided to do a little purchase in my period of testing different brushtip markers. This marker is by copic, and is called MULTILINER SP. And actually it is more of a regular multiliner instead of a marker. This ome just has a paint brush like tip. And a replaceable catridge as well. It beats the POSCA by far.

After using the POSCA and COPIC SP for a while, the COPIC exeeds greatly in the following ways. First of.. The COPIC seems to make a more delicate and smooth line. Second.. The COPIC doesn't need the user to pump or shake the marker to get the ink to the tip. Third.. The POSCA has a tendensy to dry out, even with the cap on. This was never an issue with the COPIC. Fourth.. The POSCA ink doesn't seem to be 100% marker proof. Severel times when i added shadow with my COPIC markers, the linework seemed to smudge. The COPIC SP though, is all waterproof and copicproof!

Just a small update.. Happy new year!! :-)

Brush-tip markers

I recently bought a new "brush tip marker" earlier this week. The trick about this tool, is that the brush tip is actually made of a hair like material, similar to a traditional paint brush. This allows you to make really dynamic linework, although it really took me some practice getting used to. But I am already quite smitten. This one is made by POSCA.

I am going to try out the Pentel Pocket Brush in the near future. This is a bit more expensive, but is also refillable (unlike the POSCA I've got). So it wil certainly be cheaper for heavy users in the long run. Also the Pental is favoured by many pros as far as my research go.

Below is a sketch that I just did using it. It was my first try, but I'm quite satisfied.

Take care! :-)

Inspiration!

"Drawing & Storytelling" signed by the artist Peter "Valhalla" Madsen. My all time greatest source of inspiration in Denmark. This book contains all you need to know about creating a solid visual story.

Don't know if you are able to get it in any other language than danish..

Traditional drawing!

This is a concept of the two maincharacters in STORMViND in the making, just to let you guys know that my lack of computer isn't keeping me completely from my work. I hope that the compay that is supposed to repair my machine will speed up a bit, so that i will get it back before the holidays. But at the the moment, things are'nt looking to good..

But! as a weird sideeffect, it has actually proven to be quite fun, going back to traditional drawing. And maybe there is actually a bit more christmas spirit, about ordinary brushes and pencils. At least they fit the candlelights better. ;)

Merry christmas and take care!

Frida

It's been a while since my last post, but I have been really busy the last days. I'm still writing on the manus, plus a synopsis for STORMViND. Along that I am constantly doing concepts for the comic as well. But I have a regular daytime job, so I have not been as productive as i should have liked, lately. But despite that, it is stiil coming a long. Here is a little teaser of an early concept, of the female main character, Frida.

Take care! :)
